Why Cleanse?
Colon cleansing is essential for proper health and digestion and is just as important as keeping the rest of the body clean. Typically, people shower, brush their teeth, and wash their hair on a daily basis, but tend to ignore cleansing the insides until some form of disease forces them to consult a physician. The colon functions as the body’s “sewer system” and if it is not properly cleaned, can lead to a buildup of putrefied waste inside the body. Constipation, parasites, IBS, gas, bloating, stomach pain, chronic fatigue and digestive problems can all be signs of a toxic colon. Daily, we are exposed to thousands of toxins and chemicals at work, in the home, through the air we breathe, and especially in our food and water supply. Even the use of pharmaceutical drugs can leave us with serious toxins in our bodies. As a western society, we consume more sugar and processed foods than ever before in human history, which inflicts regular abuse on our digestive system. Humans have not evolved as fast as the chemicals we subject ourselves to, and thus we are suffering greatly from toxic colons. The process by which the body is poisoned from its own waste is called autointoxication. If your colon is not clean and functioning properly, the waste matter will not be eliminated, your own toxic residue will be absorbed into your system and this autointoxication will lead to serious health problems.
One of the most common signs of a toxic colon is constipation. Many people are constipated and have no idea because they have become so accustomed to feeling tired, bloated, irritated, overweight and generally bad. They don’t even suspect that their health is in danger, or they cover up their problems with medications. If the problems of constipation persist, it slowly destroys a healthy body. One of America’s foremost pioneering nutritionists, Dr. Bernard Jensen said, “the fact of the matter is that constipation is the number one affliction underlying nearly every ailment; it can be imputed to be the initial, primary cause of nearly every disturbance of the human system.” Many doctors and experts of western medicine are operating under the false assumption that having a bowel movement every two or three days is sufficient and even “normal.” This is dangerous because a healthy person, in fact, should have one to three bowel movements every day. Elimination should be fast and easy; the stool should be light brown in color, long and large in diameter, “fluffy” in texture and floating on top of the water. There should be no offensive odor and it should break apart with the toilet flushing. If you are having a bowel movement every few days, straining for long periods of time or passing black, hard “pebbles”, not only is this abnormal, but it is a serious health problem. If you think about it, this concept makes a lot of sense. If you are not eliminating approximately as much food as you are eating, then what happens to the remainder of the waste? The accumulation of old, hardened feces sticks to the colon walls and inhibits the proper function of absorbing nutrients from the fecal matter. Often times, the passage through which the feces are forced to travel are greatly reduced in diameter so that the stool is forced to be much narrower than usual, sometimes as thin as a pencil.
The colon can affect your weight in the same way that it affects your energy level. As the mucus along the inner lining of the colon increases, your body is forced to absorb the ‘goo’ instead of the nutrients. Even if you are eating foods that are rich in nutrients and vitamins, a dirty colon will null and void any health supplements or good health regimens you are observing. Usually when people begin to gain weight, it is around their stomach area. This is a direct result of autointoxication and is caused by a buildup of mucus along the inner walls of the colon. Exercise and diet will definitely work to help you lose weight, but within two weeks to two years of stopping any weight loss program, the weight will return unless you do a cleansing program to get the toxins out of the body. When your body tries to deal with toxins and get them out of the system, it actually sends fat cells to surround these toxins and protect the body from the absorbtion of the toxins. If you rid the body of fat and not toxins, the body will continue to create fat to prevent the absorption of toxins. This creates the yo-yo dieting that is so common in individuals who lose weight by dieting, exercising or vitamins.
