Why Cleanse?

Why Cleanse?
Colon cleansing is essential for proper health and digestion and is just as important as keeping the rest of the body clean.  Typically, people shower, brush their teeth, and wash their hair on a daily basis, but tend to ignore cleansing the insides until some form of disease forces them to consult a physician.  The colon functions as the body’s “sewer system” and if it is not properly cleaned, can lead to a buildup of putrefied waste inside the body.  Constipation, parasites, IBS, gas, bloating, stomach pain, chronic fatigue and digestive problems can all be signs of a toxic colon.  Daily, we are exposed to thousands of toxins and chemicals at work, in the home, through the air we breathe, and especially in our food and water supply.  Even the use of pharmaceutical drugs can leave us with serious toxins in our bodies.  As a western society, we consume more sugar and processed foods than ever before in human history, which inflicts regular abuse on our digestive system.  Humans have not evolved as fast as the chemicals we subject ourselves to, and thus we are suffering greatly from toxic colons.  The process by which the body is poisoned from its own waste is called autointoxication.  If your colon is not clean and functioning properly, the waste matter will not be eliminated, your own toxic residue will be absorbed into your system and this autointoxication will lead to serious health problems.

Constipation
One of the most common signs of a toxic colon is constipation.  Many people are constipated and have no idea because they have become so accustomed to feeling tired, bloated, irritated, overweight and generally bad.  They don’t even suspect that their health is in danger, or they cover up their problems with medications.  If the problems of constipation persist, it slowly destroys a healthy body.  One of America’s foremost pioneering nutritionists, Dr. Bernard Jensen said, “the fact of the matter is that constipation is the number one affliction underlying nearly every ailment; it can be imputed to be the initial, primary cause of nearly every disturbance of the human system.”  Many doctors and experts of western medicine are operating under the false assumption that having a bowel movement every two or three days is sufficient and even “normal.”  This is dangerous because a healthy person, in fact, should have one to three bowel movements every day.  Elimination should be fast and easy; the stool should be light brown in color, long and large in diameter, “fluffy” in texture and floating on top of the water.  There should be no offensive odor and it should break apart with the toilet flushing.  If you are having a bowel movement every few days, straining for long periods of time or passing black, hard “pebbles”, not only is this abnormal, but it is a serious health problem.
If you think about it, this concept makes a lot of sense.  If you are not eliminating approximately as much food as you are eating, then what happens to the remainder of the waste?  The accumulation of old, hardened feces sticks to the colon walls and inhibits the proper function of absorbing nutrients from the fecal matter.  Often times, the passage through which the feces are forced to travel are greatly reduced in diameter so that the stool is forced to be much narrower than usual, sometimes as thin as a pencil.

There are many symptoms of a toxic colon.  Some of the most common are: aches and pain, allergies and sinus troubles, anemia, arthritis, body odor, bad breath, brittle nails and hair, blood pressure problems (high or low), inability to concentrate, memory loss, circulation problems, cold hands or feet, depression, fatigue or exhaustion, fibroids or endometriosis, gas and constipation, headaches, hot flashes, menopause, infertility, insomnia, irritability, low sex drive, menstrual irregularities, nausea, nervousness, overweight or obesity, pot belly, swelling legs and feet, and skin problems.  Poisons from the colon can weaken and stress the heart, as well as cause skin problems such as blemishes, paleness, and liver spots.  They can also irritate the lungs and cause foul breath, and they can go into the brain and disturb mental function.  Poisons from the colon are very dangerous and can even cause joint pain, muscle fatigue and atrophy and most unhappily, they can rob you of your youth and virtually your health.

Colon cleansing affects your energy
The stomach and the rest of the digestive organs functions similar to a twisted pipe.  The colon’s main job is to absorb the nutrients from the food that enters the body, and it does so through the lining of the colon wall.  If the digestive system is not cleaned frequently, it becomes coated with a thick lining of mucous. This causes the food and nutrients that pass through to become stuck in the ‘goo’ and not be able to be eliminated properly.  Also, since this mucus is very sticky, it stays in the walls of the colon and when fresh nutrients pass through the digestive system, they are not absorbed.  Some people spend a fortune on herbs, vitamins, and organic foods, but a thick, hardened and sticky mucous lining in the colon will prevent any of these great things from being absorbed into the body.  By cleansing the lining of your colon, your energy level will increase because your body will be able to absorb the fresh foods and nutrients that you are feeding it.

Colon cleansing affects your weight
The colon can affect your weight in the same way that it affects your energy level.  As the mucus along the inner lining of the colon increases, your body is forced to absorb the ‘goo’ instead of the nutrients.  Even if you are eating foods that are rich in nutrients and vitamins, a dirty colon will null and void any health supplements or good health regimens you are observing.  Usually when people begin to gain weight, it is around their stomach area. This is a direct result of autointoxication and is caused by a buildup of mucus along the inner walls of the colon.  Exercise and diet will definitely work to help you lose weight, but within two weeks to two years of stopping any weight loss program, the weight will return unless you do a cleansing program to get the toxins out of the body. When your body tries to deal with toxins and get them out of the system, it actually sends fat cells to surround these toxins and protect the body from the absorbtion of the toxins.  If you rid the body of fat and not toxins, the body will continue to create fat to prevent the absorption of toxins.  This creates the yo-yo dieting that is so common in individuals who lose weight by dieting, exercising or vitamins.

Colon cleansing affects your stress
Since the colon is the essential part of the absorption of the nutrients, if the colon is unhealthy, so will be every other part of the body.  The brain needs quite a bit of nutrients in order to support proper brain function.  In addition, when someone becomes stressed, especially in women, the bowel movements can be greatly disrupted and this affects the absorption rate of nutrients to the brain.  Poisons from our colon can create headaches because they are toxic to the brain and nervous system.  You can become mentally depressed, irritable and anxious.  The first thing to do when you are overstressed is to correct the colon and stabilize your bowel movements.  After that, your brain can absorb much better the nutrients you are feeding it.
